A Million Little Pieces

I must admit I was a big skeptic of ebooks. I love me some hard copy  traditional book that I can read word for word, page per page and savour the intensity of the book with every expression and every feeling, with every stroke of the pen (or,mostly computer). But this week I was given an eBook by someone I consider well...I consider nothing of and I was told it was a must read. The books were out of stock in the bookstores and I  just had to read it. I was even given an ebook reader that simulates reading a real book( I thought he was really going out of his way to get me to read the book so I said why not?). I read the first page and I was officially inlove.

The Young Man came to the Old Man seeking counsel.
I broke something, Old Man.
How badly is it broken?
It's in a million little pieces.
 I'm afraid I can't help you.
Why? There's nothing you can do.
Why? It can't be fixed.
Why? It's broken beyond repair.
It's in a million little pieces.

That is how the book starts, with a defeating title BUT with a gratifying end. The title fits so well since it just came at a time when I felt I was broken into a million little pieces and I did not know where to beigin to put the pieces back together. And like all the books I read, this was accompanied by a playlist :) My beautiful playlist (my taste in music might not be like everyone else's but it touches my inner core half the time) *chuckle*.

This book is written by one James Frey and talks about his life in addiction and REHAB and the rumblings of his soul while at it. The story starts when he is picked from the airport by his folks after experiencing an overdose and ending up in a state of oblivion. Beat with a broken nose, swollen eyes, knocked out teeth,a hole in his cheek and a bleak life before him, He is checked into rehab and his life story begins...in the most unconventional way he becomes the man he was meant to be.

He learns how to pick up the pieces of his life for the first time in 23 years, he defines himself. He lives one day at a time, finds his soul with every breaking dawn, feels his humanity return with every stormy weather. For a man who had committed so much sin, he sure deals with his problems the best way anyone could not. Baring his soul to himself and forging friendships with only people who speak his truth. He reads the Chinese tao while at it and I can't help but pick a few elements :)
"Sixty-four. What is rooted will grow. What is recent can be fixed. What is brittle will break. Prevent trouble before it finds you, put things in order before they exist. The giant tree grows from a single seed. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. If you rush, you'll fail. Hold on to things too tight and you'll lose them. Take action by letting action come to you. Remain as calm at the start as at the finish. If you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. Desire to not desire, learn to unlearn. Care for nothing and you will care for everything."
Sneak peak of what is really in the book. I am learning to take responsibility of my actions, to live one day at a time and to embrace every aspect of what makes me who I am :) haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I must admit, this book came in at the right time:) I have become a believer :)

Till later muchachos:* If you can get a hold of this book please READ IT!!!

Juices flowing, fave playlist, Thursday that feels like a Friday and all awesome thoughts. I am making mighty milestones and I thank one God Almighty bana warrr I have come far :) Ok now back to the usual sarcastic me...A friend gave me a brilliant idea and I think I just know how to execute it ( Jose I wish you were here, one serious bitching session needed- like real soon, since you went to the UK you have become ooooo so very boring!!!! KIDDING) So I have had the privilege to have been in a girls' school for four long but very interesting years and truth be told I had some of my most incredible memories there. It was a roller coaster of hysteria mixed with just the right dose of  hormonal rages and plenty of Cabin fever scenarios :) :) As am writing the memories all come to light and  cheka like a stupid mama wondering why we ever made such a big deal of some things! (Jana we was just telling pops all the crazy "don't tell this shit" things we used to as kids and...

MOTHERHOOD 101- I am no expert!

So my fiance has been begging me to write something, anything! and I kept putting him off...the writing bug has not been around for a really long time and too much has happend in my life that I really did not have time to write. Its been two months since I have officially been back to work and its killing me! Mad respect to all mother's y'all! Now I know. Most of my peers have been sending me inboxes of late asking for advise here and there about motherhood and I feel really honored :) So in honor of that, I will document sneak peaks of my motherhood experiences the best way I know how (Darn! my writing mojo just went and dissapeared with the dogs....sigh!) a) Pregnancy I have to say this was the most beautiful part of motherhood for me and the most challenging. I vividly remember when I first got the results of my pregnancy test..FEAR,PANIC,HORROR were the words that were running through my head. I was barely out of Uni, with a boyfriend I had dated for about seven months,...

2012 hasbeen one EFFING Good Year!

I have not written on this blog for a whiiiiiiile...OK even that is an understatement. I have not had the juices flow in a long time and things have been kinda hectic on my end. As is my tradition, Its almost end of year and I have several things to document...It is that time of the year where I reflect, think about all the things that have happened in my life and sigh*2012 has been a pretty good year! So first things first... a) My Job Have you ever had a love/ hate relationship with your job? Well, lets just say am one of those people. My kinda job is fascinating, mind boggling even...the kind of processes that go through getting work out are intricate and it fascinates me and some people are pleasent to hang out with BUT others tho! Enough said. That said and done, I am now permanent and I thank God for the far he has brought me. Building my confidence in my ability to be the best at what I do. God has been great. b) My folks/ Family There is a phrase commonly used that I tot...
